Doyle Brunson

Equally famous to Phil Helmuth is Doyle Brunson. Doyle, who is also known by the moniker Texas Dolly, was born in Texas in the year 1933. In his poker life, Doyle Brunson has created many records. He has also won two back to back main events in World Series of Poker, which is not an easy feat. In fact, only three other players have done the same.

Originally, poker was not Brunson's sport. He used to play basketball and track and field when he was younger. He was on his way to becoming a more serious basketball player when he injure his knee while working. Because of the cast, he could not play basketball or run tracks for a long time.

Because of the injury, he got to play poker more. He proceeded to earn a bachelor and a master's degree, worked as a salesman, but he quit early. This is because he realized that he could earn a lot more in poker than his current work, which was true with his poker talents.

After forty years of playing poker, Brunson has managed to earn a more than decent living from poker. Although Brunson has won a lot of money through poker tournaments, his earnings still do not match Phil Hellmuth's. Phil's total winnings have exceeded 6 million dollars while Brunson just managed to earn a little over four million dollars.
