Diego Cordovez: Successful Businessman and Pro
Diego Cordovez currently resides in Palo Alto, California and he is known for having an aggressive, solid and inescapable game play. Dubbed as "D Train", Cordovez came up to the top against 395 other players and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet in 2000 at the $ 2000 No-limit Hold'em event, with a cash prize of $ 293,040. Cordovez was ranked sixth place among other U.S. poker tournament contenders in 2002.
In the same year, he nearly won two additional bracelets. Cordovez won third place in the No-limit Hold'em and second place in the S.H.O.E. event. He had accumulated over $ 62,000 in cash for these two wins. Later in the same year, Cordovez won first place in the Hold'em event of the 2002 L.A. Poker Classic and his take home payout was $ 570,000. In the 2003 World Series of Poker, Cordovez ended up second place in the combination game of Hold'em and 7-card Stud event. The champ who emerged in the final round was Chris "Jesus" Ferguson, who is among the best poker pros in history.
Diego Cordovez is a native of New York and he was born in 1965. He learned poker from primary school where his teacher used the game in order for the students to learn and enhance their skills in mathematics. Little did the teacher know that Cordovez would eventually become of the best pros because of this. He has always loved poker and read poker books in order to understand the game further before moving forward as a serious contender in 1991.
Cordovez is the chief executive officer of Advanced Global Applications; it is a company engaged in developing poker sites. He is quite successful as a businessman and still plays poker even if it drains his energy from time to time. His love for the game makes him endure the grueling time at the office and the strains of playing both online and real-time. He just can't seem to lose his interest in poker that he also finds time reading and studying the game.
Cordovez believes that studying and watching the action during a game is essential and concentrating is one factor in order to succeed as a better player. He has contributed some articles about poker to the leading poker publication, Card Player Magazine, particularly in 2002. His articles tackles poker-playing in conjunction with business, since he is a businessman himself he sees the game as a venture of its kind that needs to be taken care of and profited and the same time.
