Hasan Habib: Living the Dream

The 2004 and 2005 World Poker Tour Championships were the most memorable events were Hasan Habib has shown his excellence. Making it to the final tables and winning 2nd and 3rd respectively were already great achievements. Topping off his World Poker Tour accomplishments was Habib's biggest accomplishment that took place in April 14 of 2004. He took the 2nd place spot at the $ 25,000 No-limit Hold'em event in the Bellagio Five Start World Poker Classic which was held in Las Vegas with a take home pay of $ 1,372,223. Habib appreciated the prize money, but was much happier with the gold bracelet that came as part of the prize.

Card Player Magazine's Allyn Jaffrey Shulman described Habib as a mild-mannered, soft-spoken but ferociously competitive pro player. According to Barry Greenstein, Habib has the perfect playing style which is fearless and unpredictable. Greenstein also said that Habib was a treacherous contender. The 2004 Card Player's Player of the Year ranked Hasan Habib 2nd while Daniel Negreanu took the number one spot.

Habib enjoys playing in tournaments and side games, but the latter much prefer playing in tournaments since the excitement and the results are much better. He enjoys playing No-limit Hold'em in tournaments and Omaha Hi/Lo in side games.

Hasan Habib was a native of Karachi, Pakistan and he was born in 1962. When he was fourteen, he used to be a tennis champion in their country. In 1980, he migrated to the United States. He took business studies in the University of Redlands. While in college, he started playing poker seriously. After college, he put up several video store chains and played poker on the side. In the late 90's, he began playing poker professionally as suggested by his friends.

Habib has his own share of hardships during the onset of his poker career. In the early part of 2000, he found himself scuffing to make $ 25 a day to pay for a room at the Crystal Park. Nowadays he owns one World Series of Poker bracelet, three homes and of course some confidence.

The 2000 Habib made it to the final tables of the World Series of Poker Open's Main event in April, the World Series of Poker in May, and the Tournament of Champions in the month of July. Hasan Habib is single and he enjoys clubbing and going to the movies with his pals. He invests mainly in real estate and he wishes to travel to Costa Rica, Europe and Mexico. Habib resides in either Los Angeles, California or in Las Vegas.
