"The Truth" about Paul Darden

Paul Darden is one poker pro who has a unique story to tell. Nicknamed "The Truth", Paul used to be a gang member during his teenage years. He had his own share of hard life and making a living at the ghettos of Connecticut wasn't as easy.

Paul was born and raised in New Haven, Connecticut. He faced the harsh realities of life in the ghettos of his hometown. Even at the tender age of fifteen, Paul was accused and arrested for murder. But fortunately he was acquitted because he didn't have a case after all. It was a case of mistaken identity, but the experience gave Paul Darden a hard blow.

Paul was an excellent high school student and he has maintained good grades and managed to focus at his goals even after his dreadful experience as a youngster. However, it was only a year before graduating high school that he dropped out and he still remembers is up to this day.

It was at the back room of his dad's gambling club where Paul learned how to play poker. He was trained on dealing and entertaining folks that come in to their club everyday to play their favorite poker game. Eventually, Paul became involved in the nightclub business and enjoyed his newfound business venture as an owner.

Paul's visits to Connecticut's Foxwoods Resort and Casino paved the way for him into playing poker on a more serious level. He used to play for cash games until he met the then younger Phil Ivey. Paul was mentored by Ivey and taught him to expand his skills particularly on No-limit Texas Hold'em due to his aggressive playing style that is apt to this type of poker game.

Paul's may not have luck on making it often on television broadcasts, but his active participation on tourneys has made him a celebrity among those who had the chance to catch a glimpse of their favorite pro. He has been playing poker games since he joined his other buddies in the pro poker circuit.

Paul Darden's accomplishments include: 1st place at the Gold Rush event of the World Poker Tour with $ 171,000 winnings; 7th place at the World Poker Tour's Legends of Poker with $ 16,125 cash prize; 2nd place at the World Poker Tour's Bad Boys of Poker; 5th place at the WPT's Party Poker Million with $ 300,000 cash prize; 1st place at the $ 2,500 7-card Stud event of the 2001 World Series Of Poker with $ 147,440 prize.
