WSOP Placer Has Feet On The Ground

Dan Nassif, who won $1.56 million from placing ninth at the 2006 World Series of poker, seems to not have been changed much by his win.

Nassif, aside from a bulging bottom line, seems to be pretty much the same chap who left St. Louis for Las Vegas after a $160 investment in an online poker site paid off and led him to a seat in the WSOP.

Placing at the top ten of the WSOP is no easy feat, as Nassif had to beat over 8,000 other players. However, the 33 year-old has since gone back to his job selling advertising for the Riverfront Times. Aside from paying off his mortgage, Nassif said that he hasn't spent most of his money, opting to ivest it instead.

"I wish it was something more interesting for you,'' Nassif said good-humoredly when asked if he has gone on a spending spree. "I make for a boring recap. Everything's pretty much the same, just working and going out here and there and having a few drinks and playing some golf.''

"It was nice to be back in St. Louis after being in Vegas for so long,'' he said. "When I got back, it was kind of a whirlwind. I can't even recall everything that went on the first couple days after I got back. The first two weeks were kind of hectic and crazy. But kind of neat at the same time. But things have pretty much calmed down now.''

"I had a great run here, but I have a lot to learn," he said humbly. When asked whether he had any plans of competing in other tournaments soon, he said: "I don't have any vacation time left for the rest of the year.''
